The Taste of Sound is a one-of-a-kind collaborative experience between diverse chefs and commissioned new music that heightens a prix-fix dinner experience.

The Experience

An intimate culinary and musical journey, The Taste of Sound pairs each course with a newly commissioned piece for solo vibraphone. As diners enjoy a thoughtfully crafted dish, a live performance unfolds—each flavor mirrored and crafted by rhythm, texture, and resonance. The evening becomes an artistic dialogue between taste and sound, where cuisine and music weave together to create a multi-sensory performance that is both transatory and unforgettable.

For the first installment of The Taste of Sound, I'm excited to have collaborated with one of my previous mentors, Chef Oscar Moreno from MeXo in Grand Rapids, MI.

Chef Oscar is an internationally acclaimed and award winning chef, whose focus is on classic pre-Hispanic food of Mexico. His restaurant, MeXo, just recently won restaurant of the year in 2024 for Grand Rapids. As well, Chef Oscar was named the American Culinary Foundation, Greater Grand Rapids, Chef of the Year in 2021.

“At the heart of Chef Oscar Moreno’s culinary philosophy is a deep respect for nature, culture, and community. At MeXo, sustainability isn’t a trend: It’s a tradition rooted in ancestral knowledge, natural products, and a commitment to the Earth.” (Michigan Sustainable Business Forum)
